Patrick joined Aaron Katz Law LLC in September 2023. A Ropes & Gray alumnus and former state prosecutor, Patrick has experience in all phases of civil and criminal litigation, as well as government and internal investigations.
Patrick began his career as a litigation associate in the Boston office of Ropes & Gray LLP, where he worked alongside colleagues Aaron Katz and Keira Grimes Zirngibl. There, Patrick's practice focused on defending companies and individuals in investigations and enforcement actions brought by the Department of Justice and the Securities & Exchange Commission. While at Ropes & Gray, Patrick worked closely with Aaron to defend health IT companies in a series of landmark Department of Justice enforcement proceedings involving alleged violations of the federal False Claims Act and Anti-Kickback Statute. He was also a lead associate for an Alabama death row inmate whose Eighth Amendment challenge reached the Supreme Court of the United States.
Immediately prior to joining Aaron Katz Law, Patrick worked as a trial prosecutor in the Public Integrity Unit of the Rhode Island Office of Attorney General, where he prosecuted public corruption and financial crimes from the grand jury investigative stage to trial. In addition to daily courtroom experience and trying several cases to verdict, Patrick gained valuable insight into prosecutorial decision-making and observed firsthand that a truly excellent defense strategy starts long before opening statements at trial.
Patrick received his law degree in 2016 from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, where was a scholarship student, a member of the Law Review, and a teaching assistant in constitutional law, torts, and legal writing. After graduating, he clerked for Justice Elspeth B. Cypher of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. A native Rhode Islander, Patrick lives in Providence with his wife.
